MobiLab utilizes wireless handheld and printer technology to reduce patient identification and specimen labeling errors. Patients are identified using wireless barcode technology at the bedside. The phlebotomist scans the patient wristband barcode. In compliance with JCAHO, a secondary identification method is also required.

Label printing is performed at the bedside by using wireless printers. Labels are only printed after the patient has been properly identified.

Positive specimen identification is accomplished by requiring the labels applied to the specimens are bar-coded and verified. Collection date, time and user are accurately recorded in MEDITECH. Collection information is utilized to streamline the specimen receiving process. Statistical reports are provided to track productivity.

MobiLab will also give you automatic and immediate notification of stat draws. The real-time wireless connectivity was designed to reduce unnecessary venipunctures by giving clinicians updated access to new orders and patient information.
